Concert

lowKEY nua held its first slumber-themed concert on the 29th of July, at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC). With the concept of getting concert-goers to chill and enjoy bedroom pop music in mind, the venue was filled up with bean bags and pillows that replaced normal seats, which elevated the “nua” (which means to be a potato couch) vibes of the area.

With dazzling purple and blue lights and musical instruments on stage, the overall stage set-up was simple and cozy, making attendees feel like they are in the comfort of their homes. The stage was also decorated with fairy lights, enhancing the aesthetics of the space and evoking a sense of comfort.

Despite the chill atmosphere emanating from SCCC’s Creative Box, most of the concert-goers were seen clapping to the beat of the music and waving their lightsticks in the air to show their support to the performers. During the final encore performance - A Tanya Chua Medley which was performed by artists Marcus and Jarvis, the already cozy mood was further lifted when all the concert attendees sang along to Tanya Chua’s “Where I Belong”, one of Singapore’s National Day theme song.

While the event was only catered to special guests from SCCC, Representatives from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Diploma of Chinese Media and Communication course (CMC), and invited members of the public, the concert was recorded and clips of the concert will be shown during SCCC’s RE·MIX event in November.
